Epilators: how to choose the right one

4 min read By the HairRemoval.pk team Updated October 2026

In short

  • An epilator has rows of tiny rotating tweezers that pull hair out from the root — like waxing, but with no wax and no running cost.
  • Skin usually stays smooth for 2–4 weeks, and regrowth tends to come back finer over time.
  • It stings the first few times; it gets much easier after 2–3 sessions. Start on the lower speed.
  • Kemei epilators cost about Rs 2,300–5,500 in Pakistan; branded Philips/Braun models about Rs 8,700–28,000.
  • Kits with a shaver head let you shave sensitive areas (bikini line) and epilate the legs with one device.

Why choose an epilator?

Shaving is quick but the stubble is back in a day or two. Waxing lasts longer but needs wax, strips, heating — and often a parlour visit. An epilator sits in between: it removes hair from the root like wax, but you buy it once and use it at home whenever you like.

Most women use an epilator on their legs, arms and underarms. Many kits also include a shaver head for the bikini line, a foot file for hard heels and a loofah pad to exfoliate. Because it removes hair at the root, many users find regrowth becomes softer and sparser with regular use.

The trade-off is the first few sessions: they sting, especially on the underarms. Exfoliating a day before, epilating after a warm shower and keeping the skin stretched all make it far easier.

Epilator buying checklist

  • Speeds: two speeds let you go gentle on sensitive areas and faster on legs.
  • Shaver head: useful for the bikini line and for days you want no pain at all.
  • Cordless time: look for about 40 minutes per charge so you can do both legs.
  • Cord option: a model that also works plugged in never stops halfway.
  • Extras: a foot file and loofah pad add value to a kit.
  • Genuine model: Kemei models have a printed model number (KM-6198B, BS-903, KM-519A).

01What is the price of an epilator in Pakistan?

Kemei epilators cost about Rs 2,300 to Rs 5,500, depending on the model and accessories. Branded Philips and Braun epilators cost about Rs 8,700 to Rs 28,000.

02Which epilator is best in Pakistan?

For most women, a Kemei kit such as the BS-903 or KM-519A — two speeds, a shaver head and about 40 minutes cordless — gives the best value. The KM-189A is a simple, light first epilator.

03Does an epilator hurt?

The first 2–3 sessions sting, especially on the underarms. It gets much easier as hair grows back finer. Use the low speed and keep the skin stretched.

04How long do epilator results last?

Usually 2–4 weeks, because hair is removed from the root.

05Can I use an epilator on my face?

Most body epilators are not made for the face. Use a facial epilator such as the Kemei KM-2777 thread epilator, or a facial hair remover.

06Can I use an epilator on the bikini line?

Use the shaver head on the bikini line — it is much gentler than epilating that area.

07Does epilating cause ingrown hairs?

It can if you skip exfoliation. Scrub gently a day or two before and moisturise afterwards.

08Is an epilator better than waxing?

An epilator costs once and has no mess; waxing is quicker for large areas and suits the face with hard wax. Many women use both.

09Do you deliver epilators with cash on delivery?

Yes — every order is cash on delivery, in plain packaging, with free delivery over Rs 3,000.
